SOMERVILLE – The Alabama’s Mountains, Rivers, and Valleys Resources, Conservation & Development Council is hosting an open house to announce a $10,000 grant to the Somerville Public Library on Aug. 1.
The grant was given to fund the Somerville Public Library Materials Refurbishment Project. The project was to replace aged and damaged library materials like book collections and other media, as well as replace seating in the library, according to the council.
The focus of the project is on the children’s, young adult and large print book collections. The replacement of these collections and seating has “helped improve the functionality of the library space,” the council said in a statement. The event will be held at Somerville Public Library at 192 Broad St. in Somerville from 4-6 p.m.
