Letter to the editor
Dear editor, MynameisRoseStansberry,Iworked as an English Language Learners’ translator for many years in the Hartselle City School district. I am writing on behalf of the entire Hispanic community and the Gonzalez family, who recently lost their only son Brandon Gonzalez in an automobile accident.
Words are inadequate to express the gratitude for the many, many blessings that have been extended to this precious family. This amazing community has reached out to the family in the kindest of ways; from everyone associated with the funeral home to the insurance company, from past and present persons associated with the school system to several churches, restaurants, friends, family members, and complete strangers who helped support this family in their darkest time of need, thank you.
A fundraiser was begun by a Hartselle City School teacher that raised enough money to pay for the entire funeral expenses. These acts of mercy and love will be remembered in the hearts of all who know this family. Everyone in this community appreciates the kindness shown to Brandon’s parents, Javier and Fedencia Gonzalez and sisters, Jessica and Celsa.
I feel that it is imperative to proclaim that the support shown by so many is a testimony for the givers and the receivers. The Gonzalez family is very generous with kindness, just as this community has demonstrated such generosity.
Hartselle may be a little town, but this little town comes together in huge ways. I am proud to live in and be part of such a supportive community. In the midst of this devastating tragedy this town has touched this family and the entire Hispanic community with grace and love, and for that we are forever grateful.
