Falkville and Danville fire departments team up for training
The Danville Fire and Res cue Department hosted a vital training session July 24, extending an invitation to the Falkville Fire and Rescue Department to participate. This training took place at an acquired residence slated for demolition, offering a rare and invaluable opportunity for the firefighters to engage in realistic scenarios. During the session, participants honed their skills in fire behavior, hose line advancement, fire suppression techniques, search and victim removal, and Vent, Enter, and Search (VES) operations, significantly enhancing their preparedness for real-world emergencies.

In other local news, Falkville High School is preparing for several upcoming events. Senior portraits for the Class of 2025 will be taken on August 19, 2024, in the auditorium. Students can choose from three packages: the Basic Session for $10, the Standard Session for $20, or the Deluxe Session for $30. The school’s annual “Meet The Devils” and “Cow Pie Bingo” event is set for August 10, 2024, from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Burl Vest Stadium, with tickets priced at $20 each, available through football players.
Falkville High School is also welcoming new staff members to its cafeteria team, including Angela Puckett, Tonja Kay and Heidi Pierson. Shawna Whisenant has joined the school as a new custodian. The school will also host a Prayer Walk on August 4, 2024, at 6:00 PM, inviting community members to participate. The Town of Falkville has expressed its gratitude to the Falkville Church of Christ for a delightful barbecue lunch, which was greatly appreciated by everyone at the Town Hall.

Meanwhile, members of Morgan County 4-H recently enjoyed a visit to the WaterWorks Center in Hartselle. The outing featured a tour of the facility where participants learned about the water system, pollinators, worms, various turtles, and animal skins and skulls. The event was both educational and enjoyable, providing a fun day for all involved.
