Cultivating the Fruits of the Spirit
This week, we con clude our explora tion of Galatians 5:19-23, where God draws a clear distinction.
The works of the flesh are evident, and God calls us to take control of these urges by cultivating the fruits of the Spirit. We must acknowledge our struggles with self-control and stop letting our sensual desires dominate us. This is achieved through accountability.
There are numerous aspects of our lives where we need to be accountable to overcome the desires of the flesh and develop the fruits of the Spirit. First, we must be accountable to God and our relationship with Him (Romans 14:12). We must also be accountable to His church and our responsibili ties as its members (2 Cor inthians 12, James 5:16).
Accountability in our example to others is essential (Matthew 5:16). Lastly, we must hold ourselves accountable to living by Godly principles (1 Timothy 6:37). By doing this and following the guidance we have discussed, we are well on our way to living the life that God desires for us.
