Horace Ray Simmons
Hartselle Horace Ray Simmons, 72, of Hartselle, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at his residence. The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hal Daigre officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial followed in Center Cemetery. Born on July 15, 1951, in Morgan County to Edwin Justin Simmons and Minnie Pearl Sparks Simmons, he worked as a mechanic and in auto body repair at Cummins Auto Sales before retiring. He enjoyed fishing, traveling with his wife, spending time with family, friends, and especially his grandchildren. He had a deep faith in the Lord and had accepted Jesus into his heart.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Thomas, James, and Robert Simmons; his sisters Hattie Mae Simmons, Lottie McCormick, and Ruby Moore; and his grandson Zachary Walls.
Horace Ray Simmons is survived by his wife Rhonda Gail Simmons; his sons Mitchell Simmons (Tammy), Bobby Simmons, and Craig Legg (Christa); his daughters Loretta Walls (David) and Rachel Jordan (Mike); and his brother Ottis Couch. He also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff of Hospice of North Alabama for their wonderful care.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Simmons, Robert Simmons, Bentley Stidham, Logan Jordan, Paul Roberts, Tim Simmons, and Paul Douglas Barber.
