Rickey Ray
Decatur Funeral services for Rickey Ray, 71, were held on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Bethel Baptist Church. Bro. Bobby Decker and Bro. Fred Kuypers will officiate, and Peck Funeral Home will direct the service. Burial will follow in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Ray passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at his residence. Born on March 22, 1953, in Talladega County, to Nolen Ray and Elizabeth Lois James Ray, he was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church and a man of deep faith. He cherished his wife, Kathy, for 39 years and was a loving family man. Rickey retired from General Motors/Delphi after more than twenty-five years as a machine operator. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and fishing.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Kathy, his parents, and a son, James Joey Ray.
He is survived by his son, Steven Michael Ray (Amber); his daughter, Katie Lynne Key (Jesse); his brother, Donald Ray; and his sisters, Glenda Brockman and Sandy Erskine. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Ava Key, Thea Ray, and Holden Ray. Pallbearers will be Vinny Miles, Steven Ray, and Jesse Key.
