Patriots pick up first victories of the season

After starting the season 0-4, the Brewer Patriots picked up two wins to close out the Marx Optical Thanksgiving Tournament at Priceville. They finished 2-1 at the tournament with wins over Oakwood Academy and Madison Co.

Boys
Brewer 59, Madison Co. 57

The Patriots (2-4) held off a furious Madison County rally in the fourth quarter to hold on for a 59-57 win. Brewer led 35-21 at halftime but were outscored 36-24 in the second half. Cason Oden led the Patriots with 19 points. Austyn Holmes added 16 points, while Jackson Dunn had 10 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

Brewer 62, Oakwood Academy 60

Brewer rallied from a seven-point deficit at halftime to pick up a 62-60 win over Oakwood Academy. Holmes led the Patriots with 23 points and three steals, while Oden added 22 points and nine rebounds. Dunn scored nine points.

Rogers 58, Brewer 52

Brewer and Rogers battled to a 40-40 tie heading into the final quarter before the Pirates outscored the Patriots 18-12 in the fourth to pick up a 58-52 win on Day One of the Marx Optical Thanksgiving Tournament.

Dunn had 28 points and eight rebounds to lead Brewer. Oden added six points, while Holmes and Walker Latham each scored five. Latham also pulled down six rebounds and had four assists.

Girls
Austin 57, Brewer 44

The Lady Patriots (5-2) fell 57-44 to Austin on the second day of the Brewer Thanksgiving Tournament. Lilly Yancey scored 17 points and had seven rebounds to lead Brewer. Chloe Romine added 11 points and five rebounds, while Madisyn Freeman had six points.
