Main Street and the surrounding area will be blocked off and people will converge downtown as the 42nd annual Depot Days festival returns Saturday. 

Festival events began Sunday night at East Highland Baptist Church with a community worship service led by Spencer Bell. Down Memory Lane sponsored and organized by the Hartselle Historical Society will be held tonight at the Sparkman Civic Center from 6-7:30 p.m. Attendees are invited to view items, tools, pictures on display, hear stories and catch a glimpse of how our forefathers provided for their families and others in the late 1800s and early 1900s.  

The main festivities will return Saturday in downtown Hartselle and will include more than 200 vendors, an antique car and tractor show, two children’s areas, an art show, live music from local talent and more. 

The festivities will be held from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. 

Closures of certain roads and parking lots will begin Friday at 7 a.m. so setup can begin. The parking lot across from the chamber (between Oliwia’s Shave Ice and Standard Furniture) will close at 7 a.m. so that tents and tables/chairs can be set up.  

The parking lot between the chamber and Freight House will close at 2 p.m. to allow for the main stage setup.  

The front half of the parking lot (east to west – from World Harvest Outreach to Sycamore Street) behind The Something Blue Shoppe will close at 7 a.m. to allow for the children’s area stage setup. The back half of the parking lot (closest to E.A.R.T.H. Park) will remain open.  

The Life Church parking lot will close at 4 p.m.   

Railroad Street (from Main Street to Hickory Street) will be closed starting at 4 p.m.   

All other public parking lots and streets will remain open for shoppers and traffic on Friday.   

Road closures will begin at 4 a.m. on Saturday with the closure of Main Street. 

The festival ends at 4 p.m., and roads will reopen once cleanup by the City of Hartselle Public Works department has been finished.  

Vehicular traffic will be prohibited in the downtown area on Saturday to ensure the safety of festival attendees.
