Comstock, Powers lead Falkville in win over Danville

The Falkville Blue Devils used a dominating rushing attack in their 49-12 win over county rival Falkville. Denver Comstock and Landon Powers combined for 265 rushing yards and four touchdowns in the win.

The Blue Devils opened the game with a 43-yard touchdown run by Powers and then a 73-yard touchdown run by Malachi Collett, who finished with 78 yards rushing, to take a 12-0 lead early in the first quarter.

Danville got back in the game with two short touchdown runs late in the quarter to tie the game at 12-12 going into the second quarter.

Falkville got an 82-yard touchdown run from Powers and later in the quarter got a 3-yard scoring run from Comstock to push the lead to 28-12 going into halftime.

Comstock dominated the third quarter with a 61-yard scoring run and then a 90-yard touchdown reception from Powers to extend the lead to 42-12 midway through the third quarter. The Blue Devils capped off the scoring with a scoop and score by Jackson Edmonson following a blocked punt.

Falkville rolled up 451 yards of offense while holding the Hawks to 225 yards.

Falkville will open region play with a trip to Sheffield, while Danville heads to Susan Moore on Friday.
