Hartselle softball all-stars make first tournament appearance

The Hartselle youth softball all-stars opened play in the All-American Youth Sports all-star tournament in Florence this past weekend. Two teams are playing this year, Hartselle 6U and Hartselle 8U.

The Hartselle 6U All-Stars went 4-0 during the opening weekend, winning the championship over Cullman 16-9. They defeated Monrovia 14-6 and Florence 16-4 in pool play. They defeated Florence 16-9 to open bracket play before defeating Cullman.

The Hartselle 8U went 2-2, falling in the quarterfinals. They defeated Decatur 11-1 to open pool play before losing to Wal-Win 8-1. They defeated Athens 13-0 in the first round of bracket play but lost to East Lawrence 16-6 to see their tournament run end.

Both teams will play in the pre-area no. 2 this weekend in Monrovia.
