Morgan archers place in championship

Two Morgan County archers recently competed in a 4-H competition, placing first and third place in the junior division. The winners were Jase Bailey, who won first place with a recurve bow without sights and third in the overall competition, and Jessie Smith, who won first place with a compound bow with sights, third place with a recurve in the overall competiton. Smith place in the top 15 overall individual competition as was invited to Buckmaster’s Youth Indoor World Championship in Montgomery in August.

Morgan County 4-H will host its 4-H Golden Egg Contest. The deadline to sign up is Aug. 24. The eggs will need to be delivered to Markham by Aug. 28.

The prizes will be 750 pounds of feed donated by Nutrena, 250 pounds of feed for your countys 4-H program, an egg collection basket, a guest appearance on the Chicken Whisperer radio show, A magnificent Rosette and a feature article about your flock in a national poultry magazine. Each dozen entered is $5 and should be attached to the entry form that accompanies the eggs.

State of the Schools

The Morgan County Schools 2022-23 State of the Schools address will be held May 4 7:30 a.m. at the Witt House. The meeting is hosted by the Morgan County Schools Foundation. Tickets can be purchased on Eventbrite and breakfast will be served.
