Larry Wayne “Snook” Fincher

Larry Wayne ‘Snook’ Fincher, 72, of Decatur, Ala. passed away March 25, 2023, at his home. Larry was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Sue Waddell Fincher, his father, James Murdock Fincher, mother, Alma Gertrude Barker Fincher, siblings, Mary Frances Fincher, James Murdock Fincher Jr., Horace Eugene Fincher and Ernest Leroy Fincher. Larry and Kathy did not have children. He is survived by his niece, Lisa (Tim) Patterson and nephew Dennis Breed as well as six nieces and nephews on his wife, Kathy’s, side and many great-nieces and great-nephews on both sides of his family. Larry retired after his career with Steelcase, Inc. He loved retirement.
He loved Alabama football, NASCAR racing, and golf, both watching the game and playing it. He was an avid beach goer attending shrimp fest every year. He loved the water in general, spending many hours boating and skiing. He was always cultivating his love for gardening. He found great joy in his yard and gardens. He loved his family and his friends, often entertaining them watching Alabama football or a NASCAR race or just grilling out in the back yard. A graveside service was held at Bishop Family Cemetery, Thursday March 30, 2023, at 2 p.m.

Funeral service for Wanda Townsend, 73, was held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was held in McKendree Cemetery. Mrs. Townsend died Friday, March 24, 2023, at NHC Healthcare. She was born September 26, 1949, Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Scott Townsend. Mrs. Townsend lived her life in service for God and her family. She was a precious mother and grandmother, and she will be missed dearly. Survivors include husband, Don Rickie Townsend; daughters, Crystal Townsend Moore (Zac) and Mary Ann Taylor (Terry); grandchildren, Lucas Townsend (Kelsey), Austin Roy (Sydney), and Ashley Roy; great-grandchildren, River John Roy and Reed Don Roy.

 

Gwen Bradberry Reynolds

A graveside funeral service and interment for Gwen Bradberry Reynolds, 95, was held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Hartselle Memory Gardens with Bro. Milan Dekich officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mrs. Reynolds died Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born September 1, 1927, in Marion County to Etsel Lafayette Bradberry and Vera Lee Faulkner Bradberry. She was a homemaker for her family, a member of the First Baptist Church of Hartselle, and a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Preceding her in death were her husband, John H. Reynolds, her parents, a son, John Eldon Reynolds, four brothers, and a sister. Survivors include daughter, Konnye Maner (Randy); six grandchildren, Lisa Smith (Tucker), Brad Maner (Kim), Chip Reynolds (Julie), John Maner, Jeff Reynolds (Mala) and Cynthia Maner Livingston (Shane); fourteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Brad Maner, John Maner, Jeff Reynolds, Chip Reynolds, Tucker Smith and Shane Livingston.

 

Kenneth Wayne Roach

Kenneth Wayne Roach, 94 of Hartselle, Ala. passed away at his residence March 29, 2023. Kenneth was born in Jacksonville, Ill. and relocated to Muncie, Ind. at a young age. He married Lillian (Naomi) Babbitt in 1950. They shared many wonderful adventures together for 66 years. He was employed as a lineman/supervisor for Indiana Michigan Power for nearly 40 years. Kenneth was a member of the Indiana Freemasonry fraternal organization, Matthews Lodge #650. In 1992, he and his wife moved to Haines City, Fla. and resided there until her death in 2017. Following the loss of his wife, Kenneth was welcomed into his daughter’s (Caryl) and son-in-law’s (Gary) home and was able to enjoy and find comfort in the last stages of his life. He was preceded in death by his spouse Lillian, his parents and four brothers. He is survived by son, Michael Roach (Terri), two daughters, Caryl Brennaman (Gary) Kathy Kaiser (Timothy) as well as nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.

A graveside funeral service and interment for Jim Pierce, 78, was held Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Bell Springs Cemetery with Bro. Ralph Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Pierce died Thursday, March 30, 2023. He was born February 7, 1945, in Calhoun County to Roy T. Pierce and Estelle Viola Sullins. He was employed by Avery Company as a machinist and later as a security guard, prior to his retirement. He was a loving father and grandfather, who enjoyed painting and going for walks and loved the outdoors. Mostly he loved the Lord. Preceding him in death were his parents, R.T and Estelle Pierce, two brothers, Larry and Ricky Pierce and a sister, Barbara Thomas. Survivors include son, Charles Moore (Vyria); daughters, Mignon Lee (Joe), Reagan Pearson (Richard) and Roxann Polisena (Mark); brother, Jerry Pierce (Marry); sisters, Pat Brakeman, Linda Wiley (Jimmy), and Vickie Hoffman; nine grandchildren; special friend, Carolyn Bennett and a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were family and friends. In lieu of flowers, family requests please make memorial donations to Child Haven.

Funeral service for Donna Sue Townson, 58, will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Geoff Halbrooks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home. Mrs. Townson died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at Decatur Morgan Hospital. She was born August 25, 1964, to Ronnie Joe White and Opal Marthell Johnson White, who preceded her in death. She was a graduate of Danville High School, was a wonderful wife, mother, sister and homemaker for her family. The family has asked in lieu of flowers, please make donations to The American Diabetes Association-For donations by mail: P.O. Box 7023 Merrifield, VA 22116-7023. Survivors include husband, Kelly Townson; son, Benjamin Townson (Casey); sister, Dora Hartsock (Steve); brother, Gary White; sister, Marshell Carlson (Mark); grandchildren, Jessie Wayne Smith and Leila Smith. Pallbearers will be Adam Tucker, JR. Allen, Carl Harvill, Chelcie Ellis, Mark Carlson and Jimmy Lake.

A graveside service and interment will be held for Philippe Assayag, at Hartselle Memory Gardens on Wednesday April 5, 2023, at 1 p.m. with Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Assayag died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at his residence. He was born, November 23, 1953, in Paris, France, to David Frank Assayag and Michelle Guyader Assayag. He was a loving husband and father. He was employed by TVA Browns Ferry in operations, served with and is a veteran of the U.S. Army, loved to play guitar and loved music. Mostly loved his girls. Preceding him in death were his parents, David and Michelle Assayag, grandmother, Margrita Guyader and a cousin, Jimmy Sparks. Survivors include wife, Donna Cobb Assayag; son, Chris Nodine (Christy); daughter, Christy Assayag Nodine; brother, Denis Stephan Assayag (Patrica); grandchild, Kylea Assayag Nodine.

A graveside funeral service and interment for Leonard Leeth, 94, was held
Sunday, April 2, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at New Salem Cemetery with Bro. Ralph
Henderson officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Leeth died Friday, March 31, 2023, at his residence. He was born December 28, 1928, to Albert Jack Leeth and IV Scott Leeth.
He was employed as a construction worker for APAC Construction, prior to his
retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, James Robin
Leeth. Survivors include wife, Lorene Wilborn Leeth; daughters, Sherry Tidwell
and Deborah Tidwell; sons, Steve Leeth and Douglas Leeth; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Pallbearers were Bo Leeth, Nathan Calahan, William Tidwell, Jason
Sanford, Everett Sanford and Jacob Knowles.

 

Elsie M. Nix

A funeral service for Mrs. Elsie M. Nix, 83 of Arab, will be Saturday, April 8, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Toby Miller Chapel at Miller Funeral Home with Scott Woodard, Sr. officiating. A burial will follow the service at Heflin City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on the same day from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Mrs. Nix passed away at her home on Thursday, March 30, 2023. She is survived by her children, Keith Dwayne Lett (Sonya), Kelly Lett Woodard (Scott), Kristie Lett Langley (Eddie); grandchildren, Brad Lett (Stephanie), Jennifer Wray, Scott Woodard Jr. (Marcie), Bryant Woodard, Brooke Causey (Matthew), Blake Langley, Matthew Helmuth, Samuel Langley; great grandchildren, Storm, Gabi, Josselyn, Garner, Cooper, Tucker, Wrenley, Scott III, Noah, Madison, Catey, Ava, Connor, Nolan, Aneila, Kay-Leigh, Karoline; great great grandson, Lawson; sister, Carolyn Green, and several extended family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by parents, Ralph Stewart Sr., Samuel Turner, Christine Turner; sisters, Jeanette Whiteside, Shirlane Conner; brother, Ralph Stewart Jr., and her brother-in-law, Jerry Green. Pallbearers will be Eddie Langley, Matthew Cousey, Matthew Helmuth, Scott Woodard Jr., Samuel Langley, Bryant Woodard, and Blake Langley & Brad Lett serving as an honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Southerncare New Beacon Hospice of Huntsville, Alabama.
