Faith to move mountains

By Todd Barrier

In Matthew 17:20, Jesus tells His disciples that if they have faith, they can move mountains. In the verses leading up to this, His disciples were asked to heal a boy who was very sick. His disciples couldn’t do it. The father of the boy then went to Jesus and asked Him to do it. Jesus without hesitation performed the miracle. His disciples came and asked Him why they weren’t able to heal him. Jesus told them it was because of their lack of faith.

Jesus, in this whole exchange with His disciples is letting them know that He has given them everything they need to do the job they’ve been tasked with, they just have to have faith in Him to do it. He tells us the same thing today. Whether it is mountains of doubt, disappointment, confidence or whatever holds us back, faith in Him will help us overcome these proverbial mountains and be all that we can be in our relationship with Him. What mountains will Jesus help you move?
