Are you answering the call?

By Todd Barrier

This week we finish up our series based on the letter from Jude. “Called” has been a series about some things that all Christians are called to do. Jude wrote about things that were happening in the church that shouldn’t have happened and why and how to prevent them from happening again.

We have talked about being called to be “sanctified and preserved”, being called to “contend for the faith” and how we are called to be “aware and vigilant.” All of these things lead to one big idea and that is that we are called to “stand with God.”

In his letter Jude tells us this can be accomplished if we are willing to take personal responsibility (build yourselves up, V.20), live your life according to God’s Word (keep yourselves in the love of God, v. 21) and be motivated by God’s blessing (looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life, v. 21). Jude reminds us of the awesome God we are standing with in verses 24-25. If we stand with God all the things we discussed in the previous three lessons will be ingrained in our life and we will live our “calling” every day. Are you answering the call?
