Hames leads three players on All-State basketball teams
The Alabama Sports Writers Association released the boys and girls All-State basketball teams on Sunday, with three local players included.
Priceville’s Leslie Hames was named to the 4A girls’ first team after leading the Lady Bulldogs to a runner-up finish in the 4A state championship. The sophomore finished the season averaging 18.2 points per game, leading her team with 89 steals. She will enter her junior season with 899 points, 162 rebounds and 177 steals.
Priceville head coach Terrie Nelson was named the 4A girls’ Coach of the Year. She guided her Lady Bulldogs to a 23-10 mark and Priceville’s first regional championship.
Hartselle boys and girls teams each had a player named to the honorable mention teams. Senior Kiah Key was named to boy’s honorable mention team, while sophomore Gracie Hill was named to the girls’ team.
Key averaged 12.1 points and 6.2 rebounds per game this season. He finished his high school career with 1,235 points, the fifth most in Hartselle history, and 596 rebounds.
Hill led the Lady Tigers in scoring, averaging 12.4 points per game.
