Brewer softball picks up two wins

The Brewer Lady Patriots picked up two dominating wins the past week to improve to 12-4 and 1-0 in area play.

Brewer 11, East Limestone 2
The Lady Patriots cruised to an 11-2 win over East Limestone to open area play. Marlee Jones and Breia Rusk combined four eight hits, four RBI and five runs scored to lead Brewer to the win. Jones added two stolen bases. Keylen Stapler and Ava Walls also added two RBI each.

Bronwyn Borden pitched a complete game to earn the win. She allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out seven 13 in seven innings.

Brewer 12, Holly Pond 0
Borden and Gracie Lawrence combined for a one-hitter in Brewer’s 12-0 win over Holly Pond. Borden pitched four innings, allowing one hit and striking out 10 to earn the win. Lawrence pitched two innings of relief and struck out two.

Cheyanne Lucas had four hits, including two doubles and a home run, five RBI and three runs scored to lead Brewer. She also had two stolen bases. Walls had a hit and scored three runs, while Abby Summerford had two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Priceville 13, East Lawrence 2
The Lady Bulldogs raced past East Lawrence 13-2 in an area matchup to start the week. Darby Thigpen had two hits, three RBI and a run scored to lead Priceville. Katie King, Kristen Segars, Allie Denson, Wrozlie Barnett and Bentley Black each scored two runs for the Lady Bulldogs.

Madalynne Black pitched three innings to pick up the win. She allowed one run on three hits and struck out three. Elizabeth Murphy pitched two innings of relief, allowing one run on four hits.

Priceville 15, Good Hope 5
Bentley Black hit two home runs and had five RBI to help Priceville improve to 18-2 and 5-0 in area play with a 15-5 win over Good Hope. Thigpen had a double and three RBI. Denson, Barnett and Kelsey Green each had three hits and three runs scored.

M. Black pitched four innings to pick up the win. She allowed four runs, all in the top of the fifth, and struck out five. Murphy pitched an inning of relief, allowing one run on one hit.

Lexington 5, Priceville 4
The Lady Bulldogs fell to Lexington 5-4 in the Times Daily Tournament this past Saturday. B. Black had two hits, including a double, and a run scored, while Denson scored two runs. Barnett added a hit and a run scored. Murphy took the loss after allowing five runs on seven hits in four innings.

Haleyville 10, Priceville 1
Thigpen had two hits and a run scored in the Bulldogs’ 10-1 loss to Haleyville. M. Black took the loss after giving up nine runs on six hits in 1.1 innings. Murphy pitched 2.2 innings of relief, allowing one run on three hits.

Muscle Shoals 9, Priceville 3
Thigpen had two hits and two RBI in Priceville’s 9-3 loss to Muscle Shoals. Katee King and Denson each had two hits, while Denson scored a run. B. Black and Green each had a hit and a run scored. Green took the loss after allowing six runs on six hits in three innings. M. Black pitched one inning of relief, allowing three runs on three hits.
