Tigers fall on Senior Night to Buckhorn

HARTSELLE – The Hartselle Tigers closed out the regular season with a 73-43 loss to No. 4 Buckhorn on Senior Night.

Ryan Dunn and Cole Miles combined for 10 points as the Tigers jumped out to a 14-11 first-quarter lead. Dunn had six points and Miles scored four.

Kiah Key opened the second quarter with a three-pointer to extend Hartselle’s lead to 17-10. Buckhorn battled back and eventually tied the game at 21-21 midway through the quarter. The teams battled back and forth before the Tigers took a 26-24 lead on a Ryan Dunn basket with 2:46 left. The visiting Bucks closed the first half on a 14-2 run to take a 38-28 lead at halftime.

Buckhorn outscored the Tigers 35-15 in the second half to get the victory.

Kiah Key finished with 13 points and six rebounds to lead Hartselle. Ryan Dunn added 10 points and three assists, while Markus Tapscott had 8 points and 12 rebounds.

Carter Malires finished with 21 points to lead Buckhorn. Caleb Holt added 14, while Jeremiah Wilson had 13 and Jackson Ramsey scored 12.
