Lady Tigers pick up win in a 51-28 victory over Buckhorn

HARTSELLE – The Hartselle Lady Tigers celebrated Senior Night with a 51-28 win to close the regular season. The win was their 21st of the season.

Seniors Karleigh Shipley and Sage Patrick scored the game’s first eight points. Shipley finished with six in the first quarter, and Patrick had two as the Lady Tigers led 11-5 after the first.

Hartselle opened the second quarter on an 8-2 run to extend their lead to 19-7. Gracie Hill had five points in the quarter, while Mary Frances Itsede added three. They took a 20-14 lead into halftime.

The Lady Tigers turned up the defense in the third quarter as they held the Lady Bucks to no field goals and four points from the free throw line. Hill hit three 3-pointers to open the third quarter as Hartselle pulled away from Buckhorn, leading 38-18 heading to the fourth quarter.

Hartselle outscored the Lady Bucks 13-10 in the fourth quarter to take the 51-28 victory.

Hill finished with 15 points and four rebounds to lead Hartselle (21-7). Shipley added 12 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks. Patrick had seven points and five rebounds, while Itsede had seven points and eight rebounds.

“I thought all three seniors played really well,” Hartselle coach Amber Deline said. “I was proud for them that they got to have a great performance on their senior night. They all contributed on both sides of the ball.”

Ari Collier finished with 12 points to lead Buckhorn.
