Hartselle hires Trussville recreation director

By Michael Wetzel

Longtime Trussville athletic director Zachary Manning has been named director of Parks and Recreation at Hartselle and will begin work Dec. 27, according to Mayor Randy Garrison.

Other finalists interviewed on Dec. 6 were Aaron Lang and Lemzel Johnson.

Manning takes over for Tom Chappell, who resigned on Sept. 27.

“We narrowed our applicants from eight to three,” Garrison said. “They were all good finalists. Zach had more leadership and experience than the others. Our goal is to continue to improve our recreation department and make it the best possible for the community and the folks who use it.”

Manning holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Alabama in recreation management. He has worked in recreation leadership roles at the University of Memphis and Pell City.
