Lady Tigers’ season ends in the state quarterfinals

BIRMINGHAM — Hartselle’s season ended Wednesday with a 3-0 loss to Pelham in the quarterfinals of the state volleyball tournament. The Lady Tigers lost 25-13, 25-21, 25-23.

“We didn’t start the way we needed to, and it cost us,” Hartselle coach Lindsey Crumpton said. “But I’m extremely proud of what our team overcame to get here.”

The Lady Tigers dropped the first set 25-13 and trailed 18-10 in the second set before battling back to lose 25-21. Despite trailing 2-0, Hartselle battled throughout the third set before falling 25-23.

Senior Jadyn Chesser led Hartselle with 14 kills and 12 digs. Sophomore Katie Gillott added nine kills, while junior Amber Holshouser finished with 29 assists and 15 digs.

Chesser was one of five seniors on the team, along with Lydia Simmons, Abby Morris, Kennedy Sheats and Kealeigh Hill.

Hartselle finished 34-24 in Crumpton’s first season under Crumpton.
