Are you spiritually fit?

By Todd Barrier

In Physical Education classes across Alabama, state fitness tests have begun. Every year beginning in October, P.E. teachers will test students in flexibility, cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength and muscular endurance. These tests are given in the fall and again in the spring to make sure students are making progress in their physical lives. Do we, as Christians, take any time to check our spiritual fitness throughout the year? Here is a quick plan, from Mark Copeland to make sure you stay in spiritual “shape” so those yearly checkups come with a winning score.

1) Read the Word of God

2) Spend time in prayer

3) Sing praises

4) Fellowship with brethren

5) Do good works

Just like PE students work throughout the year to be ready for those fitness tests, a student of God’s word must be prepared for the ultimate test. Use these steps to be “spiritually fit.”
