Lady Tigers to host 6A Area 14 volleyball tournament

The Hartselle Lady Tigers (28-22) will host the 6A Area 14 volleyball tournament Thursday. Cullman and Decatur will tip things off at 4 p.m. with the winner facing Hartselle at 5 p.m.

The Lady Tigers won the right to host the tournament by splitting the season series with Cullman and sweeping Decatur.

This past weekend, the Lady Tigers played in the 35th annual Margaret Blalock Memorial Tournament at Homewood. 6A No. 8 Hartselle finished the tournament 3-3 with wins over 7A Tuscaloosa County, 6A Oxford and 5A Ramsay. Their losses came to 7A No. 1 McGill-Toolin, 7A No. 9 Chelsea and 7A No. 10 St. Paul’s.

Jadyn Chesser led Hartselle in the tournament with 44 kills and 31 digs, while Kennedy Sheats had 25 kills. Lydia Simmons finished with 20 kills.

Earlier in the week, Hartselle swept Muscle Shoals and 1A No. 5 Covenant Christian. Chesser finished with 15 kills and nine digs, while Sheats had eight kills and two aces. Katie Gillott added seven kills and Brooklyn Stiles had seven digs.
