Mt. Nebo Baptist Church announces Blessing Box and Little Library
By Martha Jackson
The members of Mt. Nebo Baptist Church are excited to announce the opening of their Blessing Box and Little Library. These boxes are located under the pavilion at the church. The boxes are for anyone in the community to use.
The blessing box is a little free pantry, which provides non-perishable food, like cereal, canned food, granola bars, as well as hygiene items, including soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toliet paper. Anyone wishing to donate any food items for the blessing box can do so. Some of the suggested food items include canned foods such as meats, vegetables, fruits and other items. Other items needed are small boxes of cereal, granola bars, individually wrapped snacks, bottles of water, shelf stable mircrowave meals, plastic containers of baby food and any other items that are new and well sealed so they won’t attract ants. Please do not leave any open or used items, homemade or home canned goods, glass items or perishable items, alcholic beverages or fresh fruits and vegetables. Some of the personal hygiene items that are
needed include travel deodrant, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, bath issue , feminine hygiene products, baby wipes, small combs and brushes and hand sanitizer. The blessing box operates under the motto “take what you need and give what you can.”
The church also has a little library box that offers a way to share good things to read such as favorite books from your childhood or books that you would recommend to friends or books that intrigue and engage you. The community can help by keeping the library box stocked with good reading material. This is a community library, so if you see a book that you would like to read, take it, read it and return it to the library box or pass it to a friend and if you have a book that you would like to share, please leave it in the library box. Mt. Nebo Church is located on the corner of Highway 157 and Mt. Nebo Road in the Massey community in Falkville.
