Hartselle Parks & Rec kick off fall season this wee

The Hartselle Parks & Rec kicks off its fall season this week as softball and soccer get started. Tackle football and flag football will get started in a couple of weeks.

Soccer will have 28 teams in five different age groups, while softball will have 16 teams in two age groups. In addition, there are four tackle football teams and 29 flag football teams in four age groups. There will also be four cheer squads this year.

There are 580 kids participating in fall sports this year.

In other news

The Hartselle Shining Stars will be participating in the Alabama Recreation and Parks Association State Archery Tournament in Dothan on Aug. 13. In addition, they will be having a sendoff at the Hartselle Civic Center on Aug. 11 at 6 p.m. in the back gym.
