Teichmiller named official optometrist for Miss Alabama, Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen

Special to the Enquirer

Morgan optometrist Dr. Chris D. Teichmiller has been named the official optometrist for both Miss Alabama and Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen. He graduated from the University of Alabama in Birmingham from the School of Optometry in 1990.

Teichmiller has ties to Hartselle, having been raised in the city. He currently practices in Decatur.

He is a published author and has lectured internationally on the subject of dry eye and myopia control, served as the Alabama Optometric Association president, named Alabama Optometrist of the Year and served for 10 years as clinical director of Special Olympics Opening Eyes program.

“We are delighted that Dr. Teichmiller will be joining the Miss Alabama Organization to make sure our titleholders’ vision is at its very best”, said Debra Talley, state field director with the Miss Alabama Organization. “I’m just a little prejudiced in proclaiming what a great optometrist he is because he has taken care of my vision for many, many years. Our young women are very active making appearances all year and we want to make sure their needs are cared for in the very best way possible,” said Talley.

“I am always looking for ways to give back to my community to help those in need. I am honored to be selected to be the optometrist for the Miss Alabama organization and I am looking forward to helping provide for the eyecare needs of the young women in this organization,” Teichmiller said.
