Are you singing His praises?

By Todd Barrier

The Bible has many verses where we see the importance of singing praises to God. Here are just a few examples:

“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” Col. 3:16

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise.” Psalm 95:1-2

“Serve the Lord with gladness! Come into his presence with singing.” Psalm 100:2

Why did God choose singing as a way to praise Him? I believe it’s because songs can teach and give praise and bring forth emotion. Songs teach us and remind us about what God has done and will do for us. Songs let us display and voice our deep love for Him. Songs also are so different from one another – they bring about different emotions and help us love God in so many different ways. Let’s put all we have into praising God in song, it’s a commandment from Him and it also helps us in our spiritual life. Are you singing His praises?
