Mr. Erbie Howard Cantrell passed away April 30 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1943, in White County, Tenn., to John Jackson Cantrell and Mary Lou Taylor Cantrell. No services have been scheduled locally; the family will handle services in Tennessee. He loved motorcycles, Nascar and golfing and also enjoyed deer and elk hunting. He was a United States Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War and was employed by the Chrysler Corporation as a crane operator. Survivors include wife, Patricia Johnson Cantrell; son, Dewey Dwight Gruel; daughters, Kristie Cantrell, Tammy Adkins, Courtney Cantrell and Katie Lynn Cantrell; brothers, Hurman Cantrell, Jerry Cantrell and Kenny Cantrell’ sisters, Priscilla Cantrell Luna and Martha Cantrell England; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren

Grady “Bubba” Childers

A graveside funeral service and interment for Grady “Bubba” Childers, 84, was held May 9 at Johnson Chapel Cemetery with Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Childers died May 2 at his residence. He was born September 14, 1937, in Morgan County, to Grady Childers, Sr. and Wilma Odean Glenn Childers. “Bubba”, as he was affectionately known, loved meeting people. He was so caring and loving, he would do anything to help anyone. Grady loved riding motorcycles and did so until he couldn’t. He also loved picnics, taking long rides on Sundays and going out to eat. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and especially those that loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents. Special love to his niece, Carrie, for taking such wonderful care of him. Survivors include his sister, Sarah Kimbrough; niece, Carrie Thompson; great niece, Serenity Thompson and great nephew, D’Shaun Orr, all of Hartselle.

Mike McNutt

Funeral service for Mike McNutt, 60, was held May 5 at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Nathan Green officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in Center Grove Cemetery.
Mr. McNutt died April 29 at Decatur Morgan Hospital. He was born October 20, 1961, in Morgan County, to Albert Cornelius McNutt and Mary Sue Harris. He was a self-employed handyman and was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include son, Dondi Garrison; daughters, Brandi Garrison, Danielle Melson and Michelle Melson; brothers, Randy McNutt and Jerry McNutt; sisters, Rita Hutzler and Sherry Miller.

Funeral service for Ann Anders Brown, 79, was held May 5 at Lebanon Baptist Church with Bro. Roger Collins and Bro. Randy Ashley officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial was in
Herring Cemetery. Mrs. Ann Brown passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Ann loved the Lord, and loved her family fiercely. Nothing made her happier than being surrounded by her family and friends and cooking for them. She was married to her best friend and love of her life, Rayburn, for 59 years. She spent those 59 years pampering him and setting the perfect example of
what a Godly wife and mother should be. She loved to spoil her family and close friends, who say all they had to do was mention a dessert or meal that they liked and it would just happen to appear at their house or be on the menu at her house within a day or two. She was known throughout her church family and community for her wonderful cooking talents, especially her homemade cakes, cookies and biscuits. She enjoyed her time as a bus driver at Danville Schools for over 30 years, where she also spent several years as a substitute teacher and lunchroom worker and was affectionately known as Momma Brown to many of her students. She was a lifetime member of Lebanon Baptist Church where she served on the Hostess Committee and she enjoyed providing meals for VBS and members of her church family. She enjoyed Southern Gospel Music and loved to go to a good old gospel singing. In addition to her love for cooking, she also had many other talents which included gardening, painting and sewing. She spent countless hours and many late nights sitting at her sewing machine making clothes for her six children and herself, as well as sewing for others. Whether it was cooking, sewing, or crafting she enjoyed doing for others. The family is so thankful for all of the prayers and outpouring of love that has been shown to Ann and family during her illness. The family wishes to say a special “Thank You” to Dr. Benjamin Jones and all of the wonderful staff at Alabama Oncology at Grandview and to all of the doctors and nurses at Grandview Medical Center for the amazing care that they have provided and to her family doctor, Dr. Samuel Gillsepie and his staff that went above and beyond anyone’s expectation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lebanon Baptist Falkville Memorial Fund or to Living Faith Quartet.

sisters, Kathy Anders Gandy (Allen), Barbara Oden Anders, and Brenda Brown Walker (Dorsey); grandchildren, Cody Aaron Brown (Amanda), Perry Michael Byrd, Rodney Paul Byrd (Scarlett), William Luke Hester, Alexina Mae Antonson Mason (Chad); great grandchildren, Cole and Kade Brown She was preceded in death by her parents, Perry D. Anders and Mary Sandlin Anders. Pallbearers were grandsons, Cody Brown, Perry Byrd, Rodney Byrd and Luke Hester and nephews: Chris Gandy and Charlie Gandy.

was in Johnson Chapel Cemetery. Patty Hughes passed away unexpectedly May 4 at her residence. She was born May 17, 1951, in Lawrence County, to Gathel Rayburn Randolph and Lucille Hand Randolph. Born in Moulton, Ala., Patty grew up in Kalamazoo, Mich. She was a stay-at-home mom and spent time living in New Orleans and Indiana before moving back home to Alabama. Preceding her in death was her two beloved brothers-in-law, Tony Blackwood and Ron Baldwin. Survivors include parents, Rayburn and Lucy Hand Randolph; son, Douglas “DJ” Hughes (Jessica); daughter, Holly Hughes (Lee); two sisters, Janet Blackwood and Joyce Baldwin; two grandchildren, Dewey Hughes and Cerilene Roe; several nieces, nephews and cousins all whom she loved dearly and Dixie Bell her beloved dog.

Memorial service for Sue Wigginton Nelson, 87 of Somerville will be May 15 at 2:30 p.m. at Antioch United Methodist Church with Bro. John Walker officiating. Sue was born September 4, 1932 in Florette, Ala. to Charles Lee Wigginton and Gertrude Russell Wigginton. She passed away October 24, 2020 at her residence. She was a member of Antioch Methodist Church. Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles Nelson, two sisters, Dorothy Steffel and Ruth Hudson; brother, Charles Wigginton. She served in the U.S. Air Force. Survivors Include two brothers, Jim Wigginton and Doug Wigginton; and sister Jean Schuck.

A graveside memorial service and interment for Charles “Charlie” Owen Parker, 82, will be May 14 at 3 p.m. at Forrest Chapel Cemetery with Bro. Floyd Bradford officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Mr. Parker died May 6 at his residence. He was born September 5, 1939, in Morgan County to Grady Parker and Fannie Owens Parker. He was employed as a truck driver for Jim Dandy, prior to his retirement. He was a proud father, grandfather, son, brother, and retired veteran of the Army National Guard. He loved being on his tractor, spending time with his family, and gathering with his friends. Preceding him in death were his parents. Brothers Walter, Edward and Billy Parker and sister, Margaret Wilbanks. Survivors include daughters, Michelle Bradford and Tammy Atchison (Joel); brother, Jack Parker; sister, Wanda Sue Grant; grandchildren, Zachary Norwood (Cynthia), Kayte Foster (Kenny), Samantha Atchison and Cooper Atchison; great-grandchildren, Aubrianna and Lilianna Norwood. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
