Slam dunk! Three-point contest held at HIS

As a culmination celebration of finishing the ACAP state testing, students at Hartselle Intermediate School attended a slam dunk and three-point contest between HHS alumni and current players April 28.

To earn a ticket to the event, students had to accomplish several goals, according to Principal Earon Sheats: be in attendance for testing, follow the Tiger Way and give their best on the test.

Local sports entrepreneur and agility trainer Dave Jacobs served as the emcee and motivational speaker for the event.

Principal Earon Sheats said HIS students showed great perseverance and responsibility while preparing for the test.

“Teachers have raved about the student effort and initiative when taking the test,” she said. “Results will not come until August; however, we completed 100 percent of testing sessions (traditional and virtual students had 100 percent attendance. One teacher asked me after the event, “How are we going to top this next year?”
