Field of dreams: New softball field at Sparkman School officially opens

The Daikin Field of Dreams at Sparkman School officially opens April 21 with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The softball field was funded by Daikin America, the Morgan County Commission and Morgan County Schools for approximately $200,000. Delayed because of the pandemic, the field – which has an artificial surface – will be used by the Home Runs and Family Fun Softball League. Students with special needs who are ages 4 and older, mostly from the three public school systems in Morgan County, play in the league. The league is a nonprofit supported by volunteers and donations.
