Historical Society plans Lunch, Learn series

Special to the Enquirer

After an extended break because of COVID-19, the Hartselle Historical Society is planning the return of its Lunch and Learn series.

“We are so excited to be able to gather, fellowship and learn more about our history. We are looking forward to being with you again,” said Bettye English.

Attendees are welcome to bring bagged lunches to the events, which will take place from noon until 1:30 p.m. on selected dates.

May 2 and June 6, Mark Hendrix and Frank Parker will kick off the series with presentations on veterans from Hartselle. These events will be held at the American Legion, located at 1110 Sparkman St. NW.

July 11, in the fellowship hall at East Highland Baptist Church, David Burleson and Hendrix will present Hartselle’s early history. The church is located at 1030 E. Main St.

Aug. 1, various stories of Hartselle families – presented by several family members – will be the topic of discussion. This event and the remaining events will also be held at the EHBC fellowship hall.

Sept. 6 Randy Sparkman will focus on doctors in Hartselle. Attendees who have photos of doctors who have served the Hartselle community are asked to bring and display them during the Lunch and Learn.

Oct. 3 Hartselle sports will be on the agenda. Details for the event are still being worked out.

When meeting at East Highland, attendees are asked to enter the middle door on the west side of the building between the two porticos.
