Danville High School FFA announces spring plant sale

The Danville High School FFA kicked off its spring plant sale April 18. It will continue Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a closure for lunch from 12:30-1 p.m.  

The varities of plants they have this year include vegetables, which they are selling for $4 for a six-pack or $20 for a tray for $20. They have Celebrity tomatoes, pickling cucumbers, yellow crookneck squash, Clemson Spineless Okra, banana peppers and jalapeño peppers.  

They are also selling a wide variety of flowers, like Coleus; impatiens; marigolds in Antiqua Orange, Antiqua Yellow and Fireball Mix, petunias in Madness White, Madness Red and Royal Blue; Pink Splash Hypoestes, also called a polka dot plant. Flowers are $1 each or $18 for a tray. Hanging baskets will also be available starting in May.

Danville High School Students of the Month  

The Danville High School March Students of the Month were freshman Tamara Hutto, sophomore Katelynn Lane, junior Heidi Beltran and senior Piper Darnell.  Also special congratulations to Mr. Pierce for being the March Teacher of the Month! 

Boys And Girls Club Fundraiser  

A Boys and Girls Club Fundraiser Golf Tournament will be held May 6 at Burningtree Country Club. The shotgun start will be at 8 a.m. and at 1 p.m. The cost will be $480 per team, and the lunch and mulligans will be included.  

They are in need of some golfers.  

Please remember, all of the proceeds go to the Boys and Girls Club.

Falkville Elementary School News 

Falkville Elementary School will be holding Bingo For Books April 28 in the lunchroom. Everyone is invited to bring the family for a night of fun playing the classic game of bingo to win free books. It will begin at 6 p.m. Food and drinks will be provided. All attendees will be entered to win a gift card for Books-A-Million!  

Summerford Nursing Home Activities 

The residents of Summerford Nursing Home and Rehab in Falkville are enjoying several group activities during the month of April. Some of those include Reading Club April 11 and Friday morning nail care. In the afternoon, everyone enjoys bingo.  

A Good Friday Service was held at 1:30 p.m., and they also enjoyed Easter services on T.V. A special breakfast in the dining hall was enjoyed, and some residents enjoyed jewelry-making crafts. Palm Sunday services were enjoyed April 10. 

Fairview Senior Center Announcement 

The Fairview Senior Center is in need of dresses, purses, clip-on earrings, long necklaces and wigs for their Womanless Beauty Pageant, which will be held at Fairview Senior Center April 28.
