Area high school JROTC teams compete

American Legion Post 15 in Decatur will be hosting a Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps drill and ceremonies competition.

The competition will be held April 9 at American Legion Post 15, 2607 Highway 31 S., in Decatur, starting at 9 a.m. The competition is free and open to the public.

This competition is a demonstration of military drill and ceremonies conducted by high school students who are members of the JROTC at their respective schools. The groups competing in the upcoming event are Austin High School, Decatur High School, Priceville High School, Brewer High School, Hartselle High School, Athens High School, Lawrence County High School and Madison County High School.

The public is invited to attend and cheer for the future leaders of the armed services as they compete for honors.
