How are your roots?

By Todd Barrier

This past weekend our church went on a family retreat.

The retreat was at a Christian camp, and we were surrounded by God’s beautiful creation. It was a time to get to know each other better and a time to grow closer to God together.

Our theme was “Roots.” We wanted to focus on how we are rooted together in Christ and how important it is to have our lives rooted in Him.

In Jeremiah 17:7-8, the Bible says, “Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river and will not fear when heat comes, but its leaf will be green, and will not be anxious in the year of drought, nor will cease from yielding fruit.”

When we are rooted in Christ, we are like a tree with strong roots that is not easily moved.

When we focus on being rooted together, that gives us even more strength to stay put in the life God wants for us!

How are your roots?
