Are you living righteously?

By Todd Barrier

So far in our series on the fundamentals of Christianity, we have looked belief in the deity of Christ, belief in the inspiration of the Bible, recognition of the authority of scripture, membership in His church and worship. This week we finish up the series as we look at living righteously.

After everything is understood, and action has taken place, and we have entered into a relationship with Christ, we have to keep that relationship going strong. The way we do that is by combining all of the things we have talked about so far, living as righteous a life as possible.

We aren’t talking about a perfect life – that’s not something we can do – but a righteous life, which can indeed be accomplished.

In Titus 2:11-12 we are told we can deny worldly living and live righteously. We are told how to do that in Romans 12:1-2: to be transformed by Christ and not to conform to the world.

We are told to keep ourselves pure in 1 Tim 5:22, flee fornication in 1 Cor. 6:18 and flee youthful lusts, 2 Tim. 2:22.

So not only does the Bible tell us we can live righteously; it shows us how to as well. When we have our life set in the foundations of Christianity, we are able to live the life God wants for us!

Are you living righteously?
