66 years later: still each other’s Valentine

Frank and Hazel Kelsoe are still each other’s Valentine after more than 66 years of marriage.

They were married Aug. 13, 1955, when Frank was 19 and Hazel was 16. They are the parents of Dewayne Franklin Kelsoe and the late Victor Devon Kelsoe. They have five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Frank and Hazel give credit for their many years together to their relationship with God, their love for each other and just being blessed that God brought them together.

Frank and Hazel have been members of Lebanon Church of God for about 35 years.

Hazel said when their children were young, they enjoyed camping together as a family. Frank has always loved to hunt, and Hazel would go with him and stay in their camper and work on her quilting while Frank was hunting.

Today they enjoy long drives through the mountains and through Bankhead on Highway 33. They also enjoy going

to Wren Auction and Happy’s Auction on Monday and Friday nights.

Frank and Hazel are God-fearing people who enjoy their life together and enjoy sharing the lives of their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Falkville Area Community News

Falkville resident Billy Tillman lost his century-old family home to fire this past week. Tillman said his great-granddaddy built the home, and it had been in his family ever since.

The Falkville fire chief, whose team assisted with putting out the fire, said the strong winds made the fire spread quickly.

Billy said he and his wife and granddaughter were all asleep when the fire started. They all made it out safely.

The Town of Falkville is accepting gift cards to help support the family, as they lost nearly everything. Gift cards can be dropped off at Falkville Town Hall.
