Girls Basketball Roundup: Priceville sees end of 28-game area win streak

St. John Paul II 49, Priceville 42
The Priceville girls had their 28-game area win streak snapped in a 49-42 loss to St. John Paul II Friday. The steak started during the 2017-18 season.

Lauren Hames had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lady Bulldogs (15-4). Zoey Benson had eight points and 12 rebounds, while Gracin Prater added five points and seven rebounds.

Hope Harrell scored a game-high 24 points to lead St. John Paul II.

Priceville 66, Westminster Christian 18
Earlier in the week, Priceville had improved to 15-3 and 5-0 in area play with a 66-18 win over Westminster Christian Jan. 11.

Freshman Leslie Hames finished with a game-high 21 points to lead Priceville. Regan Watkins added 12 points and eight rebounds, and Benson had eight points.

Danville 52, Vinemont 42
Danville improved to 4-1 in area play with a 52-42 win over Vinemont Friday.

Elisabeth Hand’s double-double led the Lady Hawks, finishing with 21 points and 15 rebounds. Alyssa Brooks added 18 points.

Whitney Quick led Vinemont with 16 points.

West Morgan 34, Danville 24
Danville fell on the road at West Morgan 34-24 Jan. 11. The Lady Hawks trailed 14-6 at halftime.

Adily Alberti’s nine points led Danville (5-12). Brenna Howard finished with 11 points to lead West Morgan (6-9).

Falkville 41, Hanceville 40
Falkville picked up a hard-fought 41-40 win on the road at Hanceville Friday afternoon.

Ellie Cate Hill finished with 23 points, five steals and four rebounds to lead the Lady Blue Devils. Elli Lorance added six points, and Ella Wallace had five.

Addison 60, Falkville 55
Falkville dropped to 0-6 in area play following a 60-55 loss on the road at Addison Jan. 11. The Lady Blue Devils led 16-12 after the first quarter and 33-23 at halftime before being outscored 37-22 in the second half.

The Lady Blue Devils were led by Ellie Hill, who finished with 17 points and six rebounds. Lorance added 12 points and six rebounds, while Wallace scored nine.
