Lady Tigers dominate Decatur in 65-19 win

The Lady Tigers controlled the game against Decatur from the tip, dismantling the Lady Red Raiders in a 65-19 victory.

Hartselle opened the game on a 13-0 run powered by the three-point shot. Masyn Marchbanks, Kaitlyn Hogan and Gracie Hill each hit a three in the run, while Marchbanks added two layups to finish with seven points in the first quarter. Hill hit a second three to give her six points.

Karleigh Shipley had a steal and a layup to cap off the Hartselle scoring and an 18-4 lead heading into the second quarter.

The Lady Red Raiders scored the first two points of the second quarter, but the Hartselle defense stepped up and held them scoreless the rest of the first half.

The Lady Tigers got three-pointers from Hill and Maggie McCleskey that helped extend the Hartselle lead to 32-6 at halftime.

McCleskey opened the third quarter with her second three-pointer, and Decatur answered with a 4-0 run to reach double digits.

Hartselle responded with an 18-0 run with points from five players, including two three-pointers from Shipley. The Lady Tigers led 55-12 heading into the final quarter.

Hartselle outscored Decatur 10-7 in the final quarter to finish the 65-19 win.

Leyanne Cera (5), Sage Patrick (3) and Emma Roden (2) all got points for the Lady Tigers.

Hartselle finished the game with 10 three-pointers.

Marchbanks led Hartselle (13-6, 1-0) with 15 points, five steals, three rebounds and two assists. Hill added 13 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds. Shipley had eight points, while McCleskey and Mary Frances Itsede each had six points. Itsede led the Lady Tigers with 10 rebounds.
