Girls Holiday Hoops Recap

Brewer, Danville and Falkville girls teams all picked up wins during the Christmas break. Brewer won one at the DOC Classic. Danville won two at the Falcon-Wildcat Classic, and Falkville won three at the West Morgan Christmas Tournament.

West Morgan Christmas Tournament

Falkville 47, Tharptown 42

The Lady Blue Devils opened up the West Morgan Christmas Tournament with a 47-42 win over Tharptown.

Falkville led 24-23 at halftime and outscored the Lady Wildcats by four, 14-10, in the third.

Abbey Grace Tomlin led Falkville with 12 points. Ellie Cate Hill added 11, while Ella Wallace scored 10 – giving the Lady Blue Devils three players in double-digits.

Falkville 53, Clements 48

Falkville picked up another five-point win on day two of the West Morgan Christmas Tournament in a 53-48 victory over Clements.

Ellie Cate Hill led Falkville with 19 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Ella Wallace scored 12 points, while Elli Lorance and Liza Wallace added seven points each.

Falkville 40, West Morgan 31

Falkville closed out the West Morgan Christmas Tournament with a 40-31 win over West Morgan.

Tomlin had 11 points, four rebounds and four steals to lead Falkville. Wallace had 11 points, and Lorance added 10 points, four rebounds and three steals.

Brenna Howard scored eight points to lead West Morgan. Karly Terry added seven.

Falcon-Wildcat Classic

Danville 48, Westminster Christian 29

The Lady Hawks opened up the Falcon-Wildcat Classic with a 48-29 win over Westminster Christian.

Danville led 25-14 at the half.

Oliva Vest scored a team-high 10 points to lead Danville. Reagan Prater, Adily Alberti and Elisabeth Hand each had eight points in the win.

Danville 43, Lindsay Lane 31

Danville came back a couple of hours later and picked up another win – 43-31 over Lindsay Lane.

Hand led Danville with 17 points. Vest had seven, and Madalyn McCreless added six.

DOC Classic

Brewer 44, Austin 41

Brewer opened up the DOC Classic with a 44-41 win over Austin.

The Lady Patriots led 22-20 at halftime.

Hope West’s double-double led Brewer. She finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Lily Yancey added seven points and six rebounds, while Presley Wimberly had six points and five rebounds.

Lauryn Burt had 13 points to lead Austin. Katie Davis scored 10 and also had 12 rebounds. The teams were tied at 31-31 after three quarters.

Buckhorn 51, Brewer 43

The Lady Patriots fell to Buckhorn 51-43 in the winners’ bracket of the DOC Classic.

West led Brewer with 22 points and nine rebounds. Chloe Romine had eight points, while Reagan Lowery and Taylor Hale scored four points each.

Athens 40, Brewer 25

The Lady Patriots dropped their final game of the DOC Classic 40-25 to Athens.

West led Brewer with 12 points, and Lily Yancey added five points.
