Hawks take control of area with wins over Phil Campbell, East Lawrence

The Danville Hawks moved to 3-0 in area play with wins over East Lawrence and Phil Campbell this past week. 

Danville 61, Phil Campbell 59 

Kohl Randolph finished with 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the Hawks (8-1, 3-0) past Phil Campbell. He netted 13 in the first half, and Danville held a 35-26 lead at halftime. 

The Bobcats outscored the Hawks 13-8 in the third to cut the lead to 43-39; however, Danville held off a Phil Campbell fourth-quarter rally for the two-point win. 

Landon Freeman added 10 points, while JoJo Whisenant, Carter Holladay and Witten Morgan scored seven points apiece. Whisenant also had seven rebounds. 

Danville 49, East Lawrence 32 

Randolph scored 18 points in the Hawks’ (7-1, 2-0) 17-point victory over East Lawrence. 

Witten Morgan, who finished with 14 points and five rebounds, scored 13 in the first quarter as Danville jumped out to a 19-4 lead. Jonathan Ryan added seven points. 

Coleman Garner and Blake Strickland each had five points for East Lawrence. 

OTHER COUNTY ACTION 

Priceville 53, Randolph 35 

The duo of Cole Lindeman and Elijah Hopkins combined for 32 points in leading Priceville (7-2, 2-1) to a 53-35 win over Randolph. Lindeman and Hopkins each had 16 points.  

The Bulldogs led 33-9 at halftime. 

Chris Thomas scored six points, and Jake Langlois added five points and four steals. 

Westminster Christian 65, Priceville 47 

Priceville’s six-game win streak ended with a road loss to 4A No. 8 Westminster Christian. 

The Wildcats, who led 32-24 at halftime, used a 16-8 third quarter to blow open the tight game and pick up the area win. 

Hopkins finished with 13 points and three assists. Cole Lindeman added nine points, four assists, three rebounds and three steals. Jake Langlois had a game-high seven steals. 

Falkville 87, Winston County 76 

The Blue Devils had five players in double figures for an area victory over Winston County.  

Avery Miller finished with a double-double, 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Blue Devils (9-3, 1-0) Dawson Norwood had 15, Camden Reid 14, Joshua Bradford 13 and Isaiah Warrick 10. 

Falkville 79, St. Bernard 29 

Miller led four Falkville players in double figures with 20 points in the road win at St. Bernard.  

Caden Burnett added 12 points for the Blue Devils (8-3), while Colton Hooper and Norwood finished with 10 points each. 

Emmanuel Santiago led St. Bernard with 10 points. 

Guntersville 69, Brewer 37 

Guntersville broke open a tight first quarter with a 27-9 outburst in the second quarter to take a 44- 21 lead into halftime over Brewer. 

Brewer’s Hunter Lawrence finished with 10 points and four rebounds to lead the Patriots (1-10, 0-1). Tamerion Watkins and Kade George each added six points. 

Decatur 53, Brewer 45 

Decatur jumped out to a 23-15 halftime lead and held on for an eight-point victory over the home-standing Patriots (1-9). 

Watkins finished with 11 points to lead Brewer.  

Isaiah Slaughter and Jayden Brown each had 15 points for Decatur.
