Hartselle’s CAIN gets nomination for New Artist of Year

By Catherine Godbey

The Christian trio CAIN, a sibling group originally from Hartselle, is in the running for the Dove Awards’ New Artist of the Year.

The band consists of Madison Cain Johnson, Taylor Cain Matz and Logan Cain.

Along with CAIN, nominees for New Artist of the Year are Brandon Lake, Dante Bowe, Hope Darst and Maverick City Music.

CAIN also perform during the awards’ ceremony, scheduled to air Oct. 22 at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. on TBN.

The nomination marks the latest recognition for CAIN, which won K-Love’s Breakout Single Award for the single “Rise Up” in June. Since the band released the single in March 2020, it has topped the Christian music charts for seven weeks and registered more than 30 million streams.

The group’s second single, “Yes He Can,” released in April, also reached the top of the charts.

The siblings are the children of Charley Cain and Shari Cain, pastors at Hartselle’s World Harvest Outreach.
