Hartselle volleyball wins seven matches last week

The Hartselle Lady Tigers improved to 9-8 after winning seven matches this past week.

TUESDAY

The Lady Tigers faced the Guntersville for the second time in four days. The Saturday before, the Lady Tigers took down Guntersville 2-0 (25-22, 25-21) at the Juanita Boddie Tournament in Hoover.

Hartselle swept the Lady Wildcats again Tuesday, 3-0 (25-23, 25-12, 25-22) to move to 3-5.

Megan Lee led Hartselle with 27 assists and 10 digs. Lydia Simmons added 13 kills and three blocks, while Jadyn Chesser had eight kills and eight digs. KJ Jones had 14 digs.

THURSDAY

Hartselle hosted a quad match with Decatur, Austin, and Bob Jones Thursday. The Lady Tigers defeated Decatur 3-0 (25-12, 25-10, 25-3) and Austin 2-0 (25-15, 25-17). They lost to Bob Jones 2-1 (25-16, 20-25, 8-15).

Chesser had 21 kills and 21 digs to lead Hartselle. Lee had 60 assists and 14 digs, while Simmons had 19 kills and eight aces. Ashley Holshouser had 20 digs, and Jones had 18.

SATURDAY

The Lady Tigers traveled to Guntersville for the Tournament of Champions Saturday. They finished with four victories and two losses.

In pool play, they defeated Geraldin 2-1 (25-15, 22-25, 15-10), Hewitt-Trussville 2-0 (25-17, 25-17) and Albertville 2-0 (25-18, 25-18) before losing to Brentwood, Tenn., 2-0 (20-25, 12-25). In bracket play, they defeated Donoho 2-0 (25-20, 25-18) before being knocked out by Sequoyah (GA) 2-0 (12-25, 19, 25).

Chesser had 34 kills and 30 digs, while Lee had 102 assists and 40 digs.

Alia Wright had 28 kills, and Simmons had 23 kills and 11 blocks. Jones had 50 digs, Amber Holshouser had 34 digs and 11 aces, while sister Ashley had 20 digs.
