Kiwanis deem golf tournament success

Special to the Enquirer

Hartselle Kiwanis Club resurrected its annual golf tournament with a Charity Golf Scramble June 18 at the Point Mallard Golf Course, promoting fun and teamwork while raising money to support its mission.

DiamondPro was the presenting sponsor of the tournament, which saw 15 teams vie for cash and other prizes. The team from United Rentals took the top prize, while the Hartselle High School boys team, sponsored by Drake Eye Center, took second. The Segars Accounting team came in third.

Other contests included the Longest Drive, sponsored by Redstone Federal Credit Union; the Putting Contest, sponsored by Peck Funeral Home; and the Closest to the Pin holes, sponsored by Cerrowire, Bank Independent and the Morgan County Commission.

Michael Holifield-State Farm sponsored the HHS girls golf team, and Rep. Scott Stadthagen sponsored a team from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

Hartselle Walmart sponsored the water and drinks for the day, and Decatur-Morgan Hospital sponsored lunch, which was provided by Point Mallard.

The Hartselle Kiwanis Club thanks all of the tournament sponsors for their support, including the following additional Hole Sponsors: DOC Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine, Freight House Restaurant, RaJane Hampton–Agency on Main Real Estate, Morgan Animal Hospital, Rountree Properties, United Rentals, Valley Rubber, FlashFiber powered by Joe Wheeler EMC, Segars Accounting and Dr. James Joy.

Since 2002, the Hartselle Kiwanis Club has raised and given away more than $75,000 in the Hartselle community, including nearly $50,000 in scholarships to students in the Hartselle area.

As a community service organization, Kiwanis is dedicated in particular to serving children in the community, providing monetary and volunteer support to groups like Hartselle’s Shining Stars, Boy Scouts and the Hartselle City Schools Benevolence Program.

As a non-profit organization, Hartselle Kiwanis reinvests money raised back into making the Hartselle community a better place for all.
