Hartselle graduates Matt Terry, Mac Murphy, and Sam Murphy were honored by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association last week following the 2021 golf season.
Terry was named Louisiana Men’s Golf Coach of the Year following three top-five finishes and one team title. Terry has been at Louisiana Tech for four years and previously was at Troy for 11 years.
Mac Murphy was named to the LSWA’s first team after leading his team with 14 rounds at or under par this season. He had second-place finishes at the LaTour Intercollegiate and the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational. He was named third-team All-Conference USA for the 2021 season and was LSWA’s 2020 Newcomer of the Year. He also competed in the final qualifier for the 2021 U.S. Open.
Sam Murphy was named to the LSWA’s second team. He had one win on the season in the LaTour Intercollegiate after shooting seven-under. He defeated his brother Mac, who shot a five-under.
Mac and Sam helped lead the Tigers to a state runner-up finish in 2016 before playing two seasons at Calhoun Community College.
