Kiwanis Golf Tournament returns Friday

Special to the Enquirer

The Hartselle Kiwanis Club is resurrecting its annual golf tournament with a Charity Golf Scramble presented by DiamondPro.

The tournament, to be held at Point Mallard Golf Course Friday, features an anticipated 20 teams of four, including two teams of golfers from Hartselle High School. Other main sponsors of the tournament include Decatur-Morgan Hospital, Cerrowire, Redstone Federal Credit Union, Michael Holifield State Farm and Drake Eye Center.

“We are very excited to get back to organizing community events and raising money for the children and youth in our community,” Kiwanis president Jennifer Williams said. “We decided to not have our half marathon this year and voted to replace that event with a golf tournament.”

Since 2002 the Hartselle Kiwanis Club has raised and given away more than $75,000 in the Hartselle community, including nearly $50,000 in scholarships to students in the Hartselle area. “As a community service organization, we are dedicated in particular to serving children in our community, providing monetary and volunteer support to groups including Hartselle’s Shining Stars, Boy Scouts and the Hartselle City Schools’ Benevolence Program,” Williams added.

As a non-profit organization, Hartselle Kiwanis reinvests money raised back into making Hartselle a better place for all.
