College Street Players present ‘Seussical Jr.’ June 24-26

The College Street Players will present “Seussical Jr.” at Hartselle High School this month.

The Players are returning to the stage after the coronavirus pandemic delayed their season this past year. The production is co-directed by Dynette Weeks and Marcia Sartin, in their first directorial roles. They have both been involved with CSP for several years with their children.

Sandy Hughes is the music director of the show. Lauren Norton and Camryn Willingham worked on the production in costume design and choreography, respectively.

The College Street Players began in 2006 with the Best Christmas Pageant Ever. The group’s mission is simple: “To offer opportunities for all interested persons, including children and youth, to participate in the production and enjoyment of quality theatre presentations and in the many activities of community theatre.”

About 50 young people make up the cast list of “Seussical Jr.” The play will feature TJ Brown as Cat in the Hat, Jack Turner as JoJo, Sylus Sartin as Horton the Elephant, Elizabeth Weeks as Gertrude McFuzz, Lily Collins as Mayzie La Bird, Lucas McMinemon as Mr. Mayor and Terra Bragwell as Sour Kangaroo.

Shows will be at Hartselle High School auditorium June 24-26 at 7 p.m. nightly, with a matinee show Saturday at 2 p.m.

Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at the door or online at collegestreetplayers.org. Children 3 years old and younger can see the show for free.

Tickets purchased for this past year’s delayed show will be honored.
