Chamber board considers three for election

Special to the Enquirer

Change in leadership is coming within the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce.

According to the by-laws of the HACC, the following directors have successfully fulfilled their commitment as board members and will retire from the board April 31, in accordance with the Chamber’s term limits rule: Sherry Floyd, Darwan Kerr, Grant McKelvey. They can be reelected after a one-year absence.

In accordance with the by-laws, the nominating committee has met and placed in nomination the following slate of directors to begin serving as Board Members May 1: Maegan Jones with MarMac RealtyLindsey Tapscott with Davidson Homes and Brian Kilpatrick with Sonoco Products.

If elected, the nominees will join the continuing board members: outgoing chair Tammy K. Lott, Chairman Brad Sheats, incoming chair Stewart Smallwood, finance chair Bradley Colburn, VC membership Maegan Jones, Ashley Holladay, Daxton Maze and Mike Tucker.

Unless a petition with signatures of any 57 members – 20 percent of current voting members – places in nomination other eligible candidates by April 10, these individuals will be elected.

If the petition is legally filed in the Chamber office by April 10, those names placed in nomination will be added to the ballot in a vote to be taken by the Hartselle Area Chamber of Commerce membership April 28  the next regular meeting of the board.

The top three nominees receiving votes will then be elected.

All nominees understand their responsibilities and have agreed to serve if elected.
