Muddling through allergy season

Is it too late to take back what I said this past week about how much I love spring?

Not four days after I went on and on about how it is nearly my favorite season, I’m paying for those words with a terrible case of hay fever.

I have it all: I’m sneezing, my eyes are watering, my ears hurt – and all because of whatever is blooming right now.

I’m just saying, it’s no coincidence that pollen, under a microscope, looks just like the Death Star.

My mother has always been the rub-some-dirt-in-it, fake-it-until-you-make-it type of person. It takes a lot of get her down. Well, let’s just add that to the list of things I didn’t get from my momma because I’m a baby when I’m sick.

I’m maybe a little too dramatic sometimes – but we don’t have to tell her I admitted that.

If I could just chug some NyQuil every six hours and sleep a sinus infection away, I’d do it every time. Pass the cough syrupI’ll see you in three to five business days.

I knew it was coming. I’ve actually been dreading it for a few months now.

I haven’t been sick in about a year and a half, and I believe that’s a personal record. There have been years when I’ve had back-to-back head colds for what seems like months or coughs that won’t leave me alone.

I think if I could have a superpower, it would be a superhuman immune system just because I hate being sick.

I get my flu shot every year in October, and – just my personal preference here – the minute I’m able, I’ll sign up for the coronavirus vaccine.

What I wouldn’t pay for a vaccine to protect me from ragweed and all of its friends. Maybe in the meantime, I should get one of those air bubbles to walk around in.

Spring is still beautiful, and I’m thankful for the warmer weather. Now if I could just stop sneezing.
