Hartselle’s Balch, the 2020 state diving champ, signs with Birmingham-Southern

Hartselle’s Avery Balch signed with Birmingham-Southern to continue his diving career.
Balch won the 2020 6A/7A 3-Meter Diving Championship with a total of 461.60 points, 80 points higher than his closest competitor. He had a runner-up finish as a junior in 2019.
He was the first-ever swimming and diving champion at Hartselle High School.
Birmingham-Southern, coached by Toby Wilcox, competes at the Division III level of the NCAA. The men’s program has won six consecutive Southern Athletic Association Championships.
