Hartselle officer receives certificate of commendation

Special to the Enquirer

An officer with the Hartselle Police Department has received a certificate of commendation for his response to a community member in need.

Jan. 12 Officer Randy Denney was awarded the certificate of commendation based on actions he took Dec. 14, 2020.

Denny had stopped a vehicle on Main Street for running a red light. While stopped, a frantic citizen approached Denney and asked for help. A citizen was bleeding after receiving medical treatment, and they were having a hard time controlling the bleeding.

Denney applied pressure to the bleeding arm and summoned EMS.

Denney handled the situation with such professionalism and calmness that a coworker noticed and submitted him for the award. Denney was praised for responding with urgency while keeping the patient and all parties involved calm.
