Are you ready for new beginning?

By Todd Barrier

Yes, 2021 is finally here!

Many have been looking forward to 2021 because 2020 was such an incredibly hard year. When the year changed over from a “0” to a “1,” it was like a new beginning.

New beginnings make me think of the story of the prodigal son from Luke 15.

In this story we have a young man who wants his inheritance right now, with no regard for the future. His father grants his request – and the son goes away and wastes everything he’s been given.

When he comes to his senses, his father forgives him and welcomes him back with open arms.

As we approach the new year, we must look at it from a spiritual perspective. If we have done or said things that have held us back from God, it’s time for a new beginning!

Maybe we’ve made decisions without any regard for the impact they might have in the future, as far as our relationship with God. Maybe we’ve hurt others or just shut God out. Now is a time of renewal.

It’s time to recommit to God. It’s time to come to our senses. When we do that, God will be waiting for us with open arms, just like the father in the story of the prodigal son!

Are you ready for new beginning?
